I am going to be free Saturday Night and can go and get a short clip of a downtown area, and of a club scene. If we are looking to go with 2nd Life animation We and do the rap, we could all meet online and I can record the screen with some software I have and we could film the entire video for the rap within a few takes, and incorporate some other video for measure as needed. We maybe able to green second life If I think about it right. Just some thoughts
MONICA -
A meeting in Second life may also take care of our documenting our meetings as per the rubric (The team documents how it brainstormed, discussed, and solved problems. The team documents division of responsibilities and describes how strengths of individual efforts were used. The team clearly collaborates and interacts with each other. The team
expertly creates, plans, and manages the project proposal to ensure delivery of final PSA.

I have tested and I can Green Screen from Second Life. You can Find me at my online house on the Lamar Campus My Name is Fontan Neox so you can teleport to me. You can see the green screen stage there. So no matter what direction we go I am ready to film in either second life or in real life. I am online now if anybody wants to pop by

If we are going to create the second life animation wrap, I was successfully able to green screen my character in second life. Right now this is a still shot on a video, but doing a animation where my avatar is very easy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFErpuUyAmo By doing this, we can have our characters dance and do a rap, and we can place in any backdrop we want to. A great combination of real video and animation. Let me know what y'all are thinking. I am really excited about this weeks assignment as I want to get the filming and/or animation done and start editing this together.MARTIN - I am sorry I ma reading this now and perhaps you have gone. Nevertheless, it's been some time since I visited SL I don't think I even remember my SL name. I guess I can create another avatar.
Monica has a very good point if we can actually hold a SL meeting that could count towards a documented meeting
MONICA -
Neat! I watched some PSA's done in Second life and they were fun. They were created completely in SL. I think doing it either way is interesting. What does everyone else think? It is an interesting twist and adds our previous second life experience to this class.
I looked at tinychat and it seemed easy to use if we want to plan a chat time. Or we could all meet in Second Life. Are everyone's avatars still working?
Saturday evening works for me...anytime after 3pm should be fine. I am also free after 2 pm on Sunday. (But honestly--I can arrange more time if it is needed to finish the project.)
We need to vote Rap or Narration? Both are great (nice to have two good options!), but we need to decide on one. Please present your thoughts--
Can we plan on having the vote in by Friday evening? Then we can email again and decide on a time to chat to finalize shots, etc.
Is there anything else that needs to be discussed?
MARTIN -
Ok... Back from SL... My name there is
TEX PELAZZI I will add our SL names to our wiki, so it stays in one place as opposed to back and forth on the emails.
Please go to the wiki and add you all's SL names Also, as a back up, I thought of making an audio recording of the script. Any thoughts?
QUESTION TO MONICA -- Can you send us the link for the PSA's you saw? I got the computer update--so now I can edit this post. Check out the discussion post I attached to this page for some youtube links. Monica
QUESTION TO MONICA, RD, HAYLEY Can you shoot me your avatar's name on SL or please go to the wiki and post it, so we can keep a record of everyone's. I added my name to the wiki page...It is Darling Heartsdale. Monica
(Hayley) I have added my SL life name on the membership page, but to be real honest, I was never very successful maneuvering through SL--so I would probably need some tutoring if we are going to animate using that. I will not be back home until very late Saturday night, but could do a meeting on Sunday for sure, after 2 works good for me.
I really like the rap, but if we are going to use SL for animation, I don't know what I would be able to contribute in that end (without creating more trouble for someone else having to walk me through it). I am willing and ready to participate in anyway, but I did want to be blatantly honest about my strengths (and glaring weaknesses--esp in SL). I can help with sound and video editing and will be willing to record any audio that we might need. I can write more, maybe introduction/conclusion etc.
If we are going with the rap, have we formulated a way to cut it down to fit within the 60 sec limit? Yes, I agree. I think it seemed longer than 60 seconds...how long did it measure for real?? Mike: I am measuring
1 minute 36 seconds
MIKE---
In regards to animation in second life, I can create a dance routine type of thing (it may be a bit silly) that I can give to each of y'all and I can shoot scenes of us all together, or even as individuals. Things are working in my head so do not worry too much.
Here is the test run I did, The background can be changed and I can add in more characters with different looks. Anything you film with a video camera can be added. I was thinking the animation could dance in front of a computer, with the screen on the Internet.
Second life name is Ziggie Bluebird(RDZeigler)
RDZeigler lets give it a try and see how it works. So is there a consensus??? We will try the rap in Second Life and see how that works out?? Type in Yes or No so that we see what everyone wants.
Monica - Yes try rap.
Mike - Yes, Rap
Hayley--Yes, let's try the rap
Martin - The rap sounds great
It also sounds like Sunday is better? Let's decide on a specific time. So type in when you will be free. I can be free after 2pm (but I can be free earlier if it is better for everyone.) Monica
Monica-I am free Sunday (prefer after 2pm)
Mike - All Day Sunday!
Hayley--Free after 2 pm Sunday
martin - Free after 2 PM on Sunday
Hayley--here's the rap with some editing done. Got it down to 1:05
Thanks H for editing the rap! I think leaving it at 1:05 is probably fine...Let's try it. I have been on SL and friended everyone. Please respond so that we can get this done today. Mike is on as Fontan and wearing a female avatar...so don't be surprised!:) I have traveling around taking SL pics in different places, I am hoping this may help with the final editing...I am not sure if it will help. Mike is working hard at video taping his computer while he edits together different characters dancing. Please go online and see if he is there and if he needs a clip of you.

I have used an outside viewer but it seems that is not supported anymore. I will try to download the SL viewer from LindenLabs.

I was hearing from a co-student at my high school that is in the program that there was alot of things said and changed in the online conference meeting. Addressing questions that have arisen. I hope you don't mind all the emails...trying to make sure we know what we need to know. From Week 4 update: During this class, you have the opportunity to participate in an activity: a synchronous Web conference. All who participate will introduce themselves, tell where they work, why they are in the program, and share their professional goals. You are required to attend at least one conference during this five-week session.
I rechecked wk3 and wk4 there are no notes suggesting that we have to use more than one voice for narration. What do you all want to do? Shall we add a male vocal to the rap? We can change a verse to be done by another singer...or morph the voice already in use?(don't know if that counts though).
We will have to help Mike use different angle for the final edit of the video. That is clearly stated, as is the need to use the rule of thirds. I am hoping that the few pics I took (check upload on rap page) will help with that. We could recreate one of those pics with all of us in world at the same time...that may look better. We could also use Movie Maker (or are you using imovie mike?) to add text to the video--which is in the rubric as an option.
I say we use another voice for the rap, but this would perhaps ask us to also change the avayatar and use a male avatar. I addressed the need to use of a different angle from the photos making it an aereal view. Well, this is for the one I made from Hayley's script.
Also, thank you Monica for sending the need to attend to at least one of the conferences. I guess I know what I'll be doing this Saturday at 11:00 AM I hope to see some of you there...
One last thing.... How do we post our link? Is there a place or a form?

Apparently the narration and a few other things were more of something that was a heated issue in the conferences. I personally do not like to talk or be seen on camera, so I will leave it up to y'all. At one point my fellow coworker at my school heard in the session with Dr. Abernathy that everyone had to participate in the narration. I did not read that anywhere, and I did not listen to the session, so I may have missed something.
I am using iMovie to do the work, but the animation is being done in Adobe After Effects. I do have to take in rendering time with any edits. Here is my process. I green screen in the characters with the video in Adobe After Effects, export the movie. Then I pull that movie into iMovie and I add the sound to the video clips. So I can add in some other video clips or pictures. I am just having a hard time envisioning it. In addition we have to throw in credit and cut of the couple of seconds that are over 1 minute. If anybody wants to edit it, I can send an exported Quicktime HD movie file (it may be large) and y'all can add in what needs to be changed.
Can I get the citation / source for the images you have so I can add them to the credits we have to have.
I like the idea of us filming and recreating one of the pictures. however we are not together to do that.

Just in case we wanted a Male, I created a Male Avatar singing (african american if that is OK). I have close up, medium, and long range shot.
I can mix him in singing at a real world location. Send me some video and I will mix the character with whatever background.
If you need from another angle let me know and I will produce that as well.
Please let me know what y'all want, but give me some hours to edit and process it if you need me to do it.
